Together for Autism

Together For Autism Videos Honoured
For the second consecutive year Together for Autism videos were recognized with awards at the Picture This...International Film Festival on Disability in Calgary, Alberta.

In 2006, My Friend Dylan received Honourable Mention in the Educational Category (10 to 30 minutes).

Jury Comments: "a good resource for schools …this one presents a bit of a dilemma. The kids need to learn about people with autism, but the 'star', Dylan, still seems apart from the group. That of course is one of the things about autism. ...great piece for elementary school kids... ... good approach, first person involvement... ...nice to see child's perspective..."

In 2007, Experiencing Autism was the 2007 Award Winner in the same category.

Jury Comments: "Good if someone does not know about Autism ...good examples ...does not use difficult medical terms ...informative ...great for training ...engaging and informative ...clear voice and easy-to-understand message ...delightful to watch!"

"Picture This..." is Canada's first international film festival on disability and is an initiative of the Calgary Scope Society. Key sponsors include the CBC and the University of Calgary - Faculty of Social Work and Faculty of Education.
